“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the
holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.'”
John 20: 21-23
Let’s start by acknowledging that we all sin. Everyone makes mistakes… Jesus established this beautiful sacrament to wash us of our guilt and restore us through his love. Acknowledging our sins before a priest puts us in the presence of Christ himself and allows us to be reconciled to God and to one another no matter the severity of our mistakes. Forgiveness is available to all of us. If you’re in need of Christ’s forgiveness, please reach out to us and arrange a time to meet with a priest.
For children, Reconciliation is an important step towards receiving the sacrament of First Holy Communion. There is one lesson the children need to take in order to prepare themselves for the Sacrament. This sacrament is usually received in year 4.
Reconciliation at St Mary’s is every Saturday from 5.00pm to 5.30pm or by appointment.
